Bio:

Rebecca Szynkowski (she/her) is a proud RDI 6th Cohort alumna. I was born in Washington State to Deaf parents and come from a proud immigrant family. I’m the first in my family to graduate from high school and earn a university degree.

I currently work as a Deaf Interpreter/Language Mentor and Interpreter Scheduler at Horace Mann School for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Boston. Founded in 1869, Horace Mann is the first public school for Deaf students in Boston, Massachusetts. I made history there as the school’s first full-time Deaf Interpreter and have served in this role since 2023. I also work freelance throughout Massachusetts and New England.

My interpreting experience includes education, mental health, medical, emergency services, workshops/trainings, and DeafBlind interpreting (Protactile/Tactile).

In my free time, I enjoy camping, outdoor adventures, and renovating my home with my life-time partner.
